Inspired by the spirit of the elders who taught us that BBQ is about love, time, and togetherness, UNK’s brings fire, smoke, and soul to every plate. Our pit-smoked meats, soulful sides, and hand-crafted sauces tell stories of family, heritage, and Oakland pride.
Founded by Chef Rashad Armstead, a two-time “Chopped” champion and Oakland native, UNK’s BBQ Joint is the next chapter in his lifelong mission to honor the flavors that raised him while creating opportunities for the community that shaped him. Known for blending Southern roots with California creativity, Chef Rashad has built a reputation for soulful food with purpose — food that feeds both the body and the culture.
